Holistic chiropractic care in Farmington, MI

Dr. Brittany’s holistic chiropractic approach

Dr. Brittany takes a holistic, whole-person approach to chiropractic care. At Rozenberg Family Chiropractic in Farmington, your visit begins with your concerns, health history, daily habits, preferences and wellness goals. Together, you can discuss how hands-on chiropractic care might fit your needs.

Dr. Brittany Anderson will discuss an appropriate examination and recommendations for care. Tell her about medicines, previous treatment and care you already receive. Ask what a proposed technique involves, what benefits and risks to consider, and whether another type of care or referral would be more appropriate. You can also discuss how chiropractic care fits alongside care from your medical clinician or other healthcare professionals.

Everyone is welcome. We respect people of all backgrounds, identities, faiths and beliefs. Whether you prefer a holistic approach, want to understand the evidence, or are simply exploring your options, your questions and preferences matter.

Questions to ask about your care

Tell Dr. Brittany which activities are uncomfortable and what you hope to get back to doing. Share any previous treatment, relevant medical conditions and medications.

Ask about the purpose of a recommended technique, available alternatives, potential risks, expected costs and how progress will be assessed. You should have the information you need to decide whether to proceed.

Techniques and expectations

The clinic offers hands-on chiropractic techniques, including sacro-occipital technique and cranial work. Recommendations depend on your history, examination and preferences.

Results and the number of visits vary. Improvement after the first visit is not guaranteed. Ask how a proposed approach relates to your concern and how the plan will be reviewed if you are not improving.

For an independent overview of the evidence and risks of spinal manipulation, read NCCIH’s patient guide.

Start with information about back pain, neck pain, sciatica or foot discomfort after long driving.

These guides explain what to discuss at an appointment and when another type of assessment may be needed. They do not replace an individual examination.

Chiropractic: history, use and evidence

Palmer College’s history traces chiropractic to D.D. Palmer in Davenport, Iowa, in 1895. He founded the school that became Palmer College in 1897. History provides context; decisions about care today should consider current research and your individual health.

How widely is chiropractic used?

In the United States, 11% of adults age 18 and older reported chiropractic use in 2022, up from 7.4% in 2002. These national survey figures refer to use during the preceding year.

A Canadian study published in 2024 estimated that 7.9% of people age 12 and older living in private households received regular care from a chiropractor in 2018, after age standardization. The U.S. and Canadian surveys asked different questions, so the percentages are not directly comparable.

The World Health Organization’s 2019 global report recorded chiropractic use in more than 90 member countries in its 2012 survey. This describes international use, not the percentage of the world’s population receiving care or treatment success.

What does research say about benefits and safety?

NCCIH’s evidence overview describes small potential improvements in low-back pain and function from spinal manipulation. The WHO’s 2023 guideline conditionally supports spinal manipulation within a broader care plan for adults with chronic primary low-back pain; it rates the evidence as very low certainty. This does not establish effectiveness for every condition or chiropractic technique.

Temporary soreness, stiffness or headache can occur. Serious complications have been reported but are very rare, and their frequency cannot be estimated reliably. Neck manipulation has been associated with tears in neck arteries that can lead to stroke; whether manipulation causes these tears remains debated. Discuss the proposed technique, benefits, risks and alternatives with your clinician.

At our Farmington clinic, tell Dr. Brittany about your health conditions, medicines and other care so you can discuss an appropriate plan or referral.

Who We Serve:

Athletes:

Tell Dr. Brittany about your sport, training routine, previous injuries and the movements that are uncomfortable. An examination can help guide a discussion about appropriate care or referral.

Recommendations focus on your symptoms, function and goals. Outcomes vary, and the plan should be reviewed as your needs change.

Scoliosis

If you have scoliosis, discuss any proposed chiropractic care with the clinician managing your spinal condition. Bring relevant reports and describe any discomfort or changes you have noticed.

We do not promise to straighten or reverse a scoliosis curve. An appointment to discuss discomfort does not replace specialist monitoring or treatment of the curve.

See the Scoliosis Research Society’s patient information.

Work, home projects and everyday activity

Gardening, lifting, physical work and caring for a family can be important parts of your routine. Tell Dr. Brittany which tasks are uncomfortable, when the symptoms began and what makes them better or worse.

Start with our back pain guide, or call the office to ask whether an appointment may be appropriate for your concern.

Sciatica:

If you have pain or tingling that travels into a leg, describe where you feel it, how long it has been present and any changes in strength or sensation. An assessment is needed before deciding what care may be suitable.

Our sciatica guide covers questions to discuss and symptoms that need prompt medical attention.

Desk work and phone use

If your neck or back feels uncomfortable during desk work or phone use, describe your work setup, time spent sitting and the movements that bring on symptoms.

Dr. Brittany can discuss an assessment and appropriate options based on your history and examination. Read our neck pain guide and back pain guide before your visit.

Musicians:

Playing an instrument may involve long rehearsals, repeated movements or holding a position for an extended time. Tell Dr. Brittany about your instrument, playing schedule and the symptoms affecting your practice or performance.

Recommendations depend on an individual assessment. Ask about appropriate care, adjustments to your routine and whether another professional should evaluate your concern.

Questions about care for children

Before arranging care for an infant or child, speak with your child’s pediatrician about the concern. Contact our office to discuss the child’s age, the reason for the visit and whether an assessment is appropriate.

Chiropractic care does not replace pediatric medical care. Ask about the evidence, possible risks and alternatives before deciding on any proposed treatment.

Headache Sufferers:

Tell your medical clinician about new, persistent or changing headaches. At a chiropractic appointment, describe your headache history and any associated neck symptoms so Dr. Brittany can discuss whether an examination or referral is appropriate.

Care depends on the type and cause of the headache. Ask about the evidence, potential risks and alternatives for any proposed technique.

Older adults

Tell Dr. Brittany about the activities you want to maintain, your medical conditions, medications and any previous injuries or surgery. These details help inform whether a proposed technique is appropriate.

Care should reflect your individual needs and preferences, with realistic goals and review of your progress. Ask how any chiropractic care fits with the care you receive from your other clinicians.
